Wow. In 2003, multi intrumentalist and always interesting producer Daedelus teamed up with Busdriver and Radioinactive to make the album, "The Weather." Get a taste for the album with this awesome track, titled "Name Forgetter". Daedelus' use of sampling on this track is so unique and well done, and both Radioinactive and Busdriver deliver some dope verses.
Busdriver & Radioinactive with Daedelus - Name Forgetter
Oh, and Wu Tang needs an intern.

Seattle hip hop artist Macklemore, teamed with talented producer Ryan Lewis, dropped this track as a single in January. They launched a kickstarter campaign to fund the video, and have been working on it with director Zia Mohajerjasbi for months.
Yesterday, the video was released via XXL Magazine. The song was a really interesting take on consumerism and how prominent it is in our culture, especially in sneakerheads. The video, with its amazing production values, just adds to that. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are on the rise, having performed at opening day at Safeco Field this year. Also look out for Zia Mohajerjasbi!

Sia is a contemporary Australian singer. She has often collaborated with Zero 7, making classic downtempo singles such as "Destiny", "Somersault", and "Distraction", just to name a few. Aside from these collaborations, she is also an accomplished solo artist. On her 2004 album, Colour The Small One, appeared the beautiful single "Breathe Me." Since then, many remixes and re-interpretations of the song have been created, spanning a bunch of different genres. It's very interesting to see how versatile "Breathe Me" has proved to be, appearing in remixes that can be categorized as downtempo, house, trip hop, and even dubstep. Check out the original and a few of our favorite remixes.
Sia - Breathe Me
Here's the original version of Sia's "Breathe Me," featuring a haunting and beautiful vocal. It was featured on the finale of HBO show "Six Feet Under".
Sia - Breathe Me (Ulrich Schnauss Remix)
This remix comes from German producer Ulrich Schnauss, who is mostly known for his complex electronic sound. In this remix, Schnauss does not stray far from the original, but makes it refreshingly his own with a catchy, and uplifting beat.
Sia - Breathe Me (Four Tet Remix)
Electronic music producer Kieran Hebden, a.k.a. Four Tet, produced this remix version of "Breathe Me," which is clearly his own. The swooping percussion and drum set are likely the most innovative and interesting additions to the song Hebden has chosen.
Sia - Breathe Me (Butch Clancy Remix)
Butch Clancy, with his remix, takes the song to a genre Sia would likely not have envisioned: dubstep. As opposed to using excessive and deep thudding bass, Clancy uses the bass sparingly, and respectfully. This remix is perhaps the farthest from the original in terms of instruments used, but it might also be the most interesting remix because of the distance Clancy has taken it from the original.
Which remix of Sia's "Breathe Me" do you like the most? Or do you prefer the original? Let us know in the comments section below!

It's been a while since we've done one of those mini-playlist-style posts. Let's change that.
Chinese Man - I've Got That Tune
Really digging this one, and loving the old-school feel. Great vibes all around from this french duo. The video's pretty great too, take a look if you get the chance.
Blockhead - Which One Of You Jerks Drank My Arnold Palmer
Blockhead's album, "The Music Scene" is a hell of an album. Each track showcases Blockhead's talent in crafting remarkable and innovative instrumental hip hop. This one in particular though, really stuck out for me, the way everything just comes together.
Ennio Morricone - L'Estasi Dell'oro (Bandini Remix)
Liking the vocals here, and the mood set by this one. Very atmospheric, highly recommend this track.

Populous is the moniker of talented electronic musician Andrea Mangia, who is currently signed to the Morr Music record label. He often does collaborations with Short Stories, and has a folk side project, Girl With The Gun. We were lucky enough to sit down with Mangia and ask him a few questions!
I read an interview that you gave to your Morr Music label-mate Michael Turner of Telekinesis, and I think it would be fitting to start this interview the same way you did. If you were a painter, a season, a historical character, a colour, and a model of shoe, which would you be for each?
painter: Milton Glaser (I know he's not a proper painter but I feel total empathy with him!)
season: spring
historical character: Judas
color: gray
model of shoe: Vans authentic
How did you get started as a musician?
When I was a kid my father gave me this sort of Casio pocket calculator/keyboard his father gave him. I think it all started then. Future held into the past!
What music did you grow up with?
Mostly indie/noise rock. Sonic Youth, Sub Pop records, Shoegaze. Then I discovered Aphex Twin, Orbital and the whole Warp shit. It was a shock!!
Do you usually make your music in a studio, or do you bring a laptop with you and produce anywhere?
I have a little studio at home (with keys and other "real" instruments), but lately I mostly use laptop. I definitely love to work with samples. A sample is forever, quoting Shirley Bassey... :)
If you think of an awesome beat when you're on the bus, train, etc., how do you remember it?
I have my iPhone always full of shit!
Does the environment where you record influence the sounds you use to create?
It’s quite normal. If I happened to live in India for some time, even for a short stay, I’m sure somehow it would affect my sound. This is but an example. Unfortunately, I live in Southern Italy: I used to think it was special or just different (sea in wintertime, the fields and so on), lately though I’m fed up with it. I guess it’s time to get away.
When you do you a collaboration with a vocalist, such as on "Breathes the Best" or "The holy see" what comes first, the beats or the lyrics?
Usually I send Mike (Short Stories) tiny hints of melodies. Then we organize the whole.
If you could recommend one of your tracks to someone who has never heard your music, what would it be?
Probably "breathes the best" as for Populous and "steamboy" for my folk side-project Girl With The Gun.
Thanks a lot for sitting down with us at Ten Million Sounds! Are there any upcoming releases we should look out for?
I'm trying to ends both the new records (new one with Short Stories and new Girl With The Gun). Unfortunately the summer is not the best period for studio working... :) But please, stay tuned!
We'll keep you posted when the new Populous and Girl With The Gun records drop. Until then, check out a couple of our favorite tunes from Populous:
Populous - Bon Bon Por Les Rappeurs
Populous - Hip Hop Cocotte
Girl With The Gun - In The Sunshine

I've been bumping this album on my MP3 player for the last month or so, and I can confidently tell you that this album is one you don't want to miss out on.
This is more than just a hip hop instrumental album, these beats come alive. Most of the tracks on 'Drum Machines Have No Soul' start like a sequence; they start minimal, and evolve into their own unique forms. I'm getting a bit of an RJD2 vibe, especially on "Electrocodone," which is awesome. The album's mostly instrumental, except for the last two tracks which feature Jondis and Junclassic respectively. This album is like a lesson that will teach you what it means to make a good beat.
Three tracks you should check out: Electrocodone, Be Outside, 1 Too ft. Jondis. These are my favorite cuts from the album, but there isn't a dud on there. Check out the entire album here on bandcamp, as a name your price, pay what you want download. Plus, 10% of all proceeds go to a great cause, St Jude's childrens hospital. You can listen to the album below.

Hocus Pocus - Quitte à t'aimer
I've been working on a French hip hop playlist for the past few days, and this one really stood out. Love the instruments here, and frontman 20syl's flow is great. If you're interested, the rest of this album is really, really good. Highly recommended.
Marbert Rocel - Love Me
Great vibes in this tune from German trio Marbert Rocel. The lead singer has such a great voice, put this one on to chill after a long day.

Kormac - Good Lord
Man. Kormac is incredible. The sampling, the swinging sax, the whistling, the beat, it's all great. This is the most excited I've been about a tune in a long time. There'll definitely be more Kormac here in future.
Alpha Channel - Arabian Nights
Really chill, love the sampling here too. Kind of an eerie sound in the beginning, really liking that vibe.

Wow, it's been a while. Sorry about that.
DJ Shadow - You Can't Go Home Again
Really been feeling this one lately, the whole thing is just so chill. DJ Shadow shows why he's got the reputation he does. Check out the video if you can, it's awesome.
DJ Whitesmith - Jakou
DJ Whitesmith is so under the radar, it's almost criminal. This guy is an incredible producer, some of the best hip hop + piano combos out there.

Mick Boogie / Peter, Bjorn & John - Stay This Way (Remix)
Swedish indie rock band Peter, Bjorn, & John teamed up with producer Mick Boogie to make this awesome remix of PB & J's original song. Three different rappers, Pooh, Phil Nash, and Chaundon lay down their verses on this track. Summertime hip hop at its finest.
Macklemore - Love Song
Love Song comes from Macklemore's debut album, Language of my World, which came out back in 2005. This is my favorite track from the album, heartfelt lyrics over a great beat.
Two Fresh - Bakers Dozen
Two Fresh is on the rise. Just found this track a few days ago, and I've been playing it on repeat ever since. These guys are up and coming, look for them in the future, they're the real deal.

It's 3 in the morning.
Thievery Corporation - Until The Morning
Great vibe and female vocals here. If you're looking for chill-out music, Thievery Corporation is always a consistent stand-out choice.
Sia - Breathe Me (Four Tet Remix)
So many remixes have been done of Sia's "Breathe Me", but Four Tet shows his producing talent to make this one stand out. Absolutely love this one.
Burial - In McDonalds
Real atmospheric. Haven't listened to Burial much, but have heard a lot of good things. Heard this track first and fell in love with it.

A.M. Architect - The Road To The Sun
Stumbled across this record a few days ago, and really loving it so far. It's the kind of music you can relax to, but still enjoy and appreciate every second of. It's all instrumental, except for a vocal sample on one track. Really chill stuff, I think you guys will like it. Here's a few of my favorite tracks. You can preview and buy the album on A.M. Architect's bandcamp, here.
A.M. Architect - Sleepless Night
A.M. Architect - Unspoken
A.M. Architect - Albatross

Eponym & Esta - Give Thanks
I've been playing this Eponym & Esta record a lot recently. Esta's got a great flow and Eponym's a very talented producer, hopefully we'll see more from these guys soon. Its really cool that they can make such a great record considering how young they are.
Zero 7 - Somersault (MF Doom & Danger Mouse Remix)
This track on its own is pretty awesome. But add MF Doom and Danger Mouse and it becomes incredible. MF Doom's verses and Danger Mouse's production fit perfectly over Zero 7's classic track. Love this one.
Broken Bells - Vaporize
Broken Bells is a duo between James Mercer (The Shins) and Danger Mouse. Some awesome synths in this track, and Mercer's standout vocals. If you're considering buying this album, the whole LP is great, you won't be disappointed.
Also, here's a really cool live performance of "The High Road" also by Broken Bells.

Lazy Sunday. Wake up, roll out of bed, and put on these tunes.
Eponym & Esta - Lazy Sunday
I'm really digging the jazzy sound here, the rap with the piano is dope. This entire album, Autumn in Sound, is really good. And you can get the whole thing for only two bucks, here.
Shirosky - Smooth Dream
Chill instrumental with a great Sinatra sample. This track comes from South Korean producer Shirosky, and its got a great vibe.
Blazo - Fragile Gold
Here's some new Blazo off his upcoming album, Colors of Jazz. Really great stuff, I'll definitely keep you guys posted when the album drops next month.
Thanks to Bob42jh for these tracks. Check out his YouTube channel here if you haven't already.
